- Arrive Fraser Island - Wanggoolba Creek - approx 9.00am
- Lake McKenzie / Central Station
- Drive along the eastern beach to Eli Creek & Pinnacles
- Return to Wanggoolba Creek for 5.00pm barge departure.
- 4WD safety briefing - day prior to departure

This is a 3-Day/2-Night self-drive 4WD experience to Fraser Island. You get a customised itinerary that coincides with the low tides on the eastern beach where you can drive along the beach to see the Maheno shipwreck and the coloured sands, stopping at the famous Eli Creek. This 3 day getaway allows you to travel as far as Indian Head / Champagne Pools on the second day, tides permitting. But that's not all, Lake Wabby is a must and with so much time you’ll get an enjoyable visit to Lake McKenzie, with plenty of time to get the 3 or 5 pm barge.
Johnny Feelgood's Fraser Island Options: Pickup & Dropoff vehicle from Fraser Dingo Hervey Bay office only. Drivers must be 23+
Essential Information:
- Additional $47 Levy to be paid direct to Operator on day of departure. All Drivers must be over 23 with an open license, $1000 credit card bond (includes $2000 excess reduction) is required on all vehicle hires.
- 4WD HIRE available every day (for drivers 23 years+) - all drivers must attend a 4wd information session prior to departure (takes approx. 1hr) Early morning barges (8:30AM) require the drivers to attend the safety session the day prior to departure (4:00PM), if the hirer can not be in Hervey Bay by this time, it would be better to do the safety session on the morning of departure (8:00AM) and take the 10:15AM barge. All hires are calendar day and most vehicles return on the 3:00PM or 5:00PM barges. Please remind hirers to confirm safety session times by phone with Fraser Dingo prior to day of hire. Late & admin fees apply to safety sessions and barge bookings that need to be rescheduled.
- CAMP PACKAGES are an additional $25 per person per night and include the camping permit, 3 person tent, sleep mats, cooking equipment (pots, frypan, plates/bowls/mugs, cutlery, cutting boards, washing bucket & soap, dish towels, esky/cool box, gas cooker and gas refills etc. If camp equipment is required it is payable & organised on arrival, please confirm prior to day of hire. Couples Camper includes all camp equipment and double bed in price.
- WHAT TO BRING: Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, swimsuit, towel, walking shoes, sandals, camera, water bottle, torch, mobile phone.
Terms & Conditions:
Cancellation Policy: Bookings cancelled less than 14 days prior to departure incur full loss of booking. We are also happy to open date your booking until you can make it. Bookings cancelled more than fourteen days prior to vehicle pickup will receive a full refund, minus an admin. fee of $30. Refund Policy: Although we are very sorry for any of your time lost due to a mechanical failure not caused by your own actions, we must stress that Fraser Island is a remote off road environment. Mechanical failures do happen despite the best maintenance procedures. Refund due to Loss of Hire Time: We will wherever possible replace the vehicle as soon as we can and extend your hire for equivalent time lost. The customer must be advised that we are restricted by car ferry times and tides when replacing vehicles and will not be held liable for delays in delivering vehicles as a result of these circumstances. If extending your hire is not possible, we calculate your refund using the following method: we allow ten useable hours per day for the vehicle, we divide the cost you have paid per day by ten leaving us with a dollar per hour figure, we multiply the number of hours lost by the dollar per hour and refund this amount. Although we will attempt to solve the problem as quickly as possible, we do not compensate for: personal stress due to a mechanical breakdown, missing connecting travel arrangements, use of any other unapproved travel means or accommodation, for having missed places you wished to travel to if you are unable to extend your hire or tides do not allow. We do not refund money for hires cut short due to:Bad weather (unless directed by Queensland parks or Queensland police to leave the island). Shortening of the rental period by the hirer, unless it can be rehired for that same period of time. Cars taken from the hirer due to misuse or abuse. Fraser Dingo reserves the right to make changes to these terms and conditions as they see fit and without prior notice.
